Laboratory & results

The trip back to collect a result is optional now.

Biomatrix keeps every lab request, result and report linked to the right patient — and lets you release approved results to them digitally, with a record of exactly when it happened.

The path of a result

Five steps, five accountable people.

Each step is a deliberate action by someone with permission to take it. The record shows who, and when.

  1. 1

    Doctor

    Request

The test is requested from the consultation. It reaches the lab already attached to the patient, the visit and the requesting clinician.

  2. 2

    Nurse / phlebotomy

    Collect

The sample is recorded against the request, so there is never a question of whose tube is whose.

  3. 3

    Laboratory

    Upload

Values are entered and the report attached — PDF, image or other supported file — then marked ready for review.

  4. 4

    Authorised clinician

    Approve

Nothing leaves the hospital until someone with release permission has reviewed it. Approval is recorded with name and time.

  5. 5

    Any authorised staff

    Release

'Send to patient' delivers the result through the channels you've enabled: secure portal, email or an integrated messaging service.

Inside the record

The result, the file and the history — together.

Linked by default
Results can't drift away from the patient they belong to. Doctors open them from the patient's timeline.
Files, not photocopies
Analyser printouts, scanned reports and images attach directly to the result.
A release history
Every result shows whether, when, how and by whom it was sent to the patient.

Safeguards

Fast for staff. Careful with patients.

Digital release is a convenience that only works if it's trustworthy. These controls are on by default.

Approval gate

Release permission is separate from upload permission.

Verified contact

Results go only to contact details recorded on the patient's profile.

Sensitive tests

Mark test types that must be discussed in person before release.

Full audit

Views, downloads and releases are logged for later review.
